Durable products and reuse of products lies at the core of Carl Oscar.
Additional to durable products and reuse, the circular economy offers a range of other strategies: reducing the amount of resources used and waste created, reuse when possible and recycling.
It is a counter strategy to the current linear economy model, or the so called “take-make-waste” model.

The base of Circular Ecomony
According to the Ellen MacArthur foundation, the circular economy is based on three principles:
- Eliminate waste and pollution
- Circulate products and materials (at their highest value)
- Regenerate nature
Circular Economy can be seen as a tool to potentially reduce carbon emissions and other environmental impact. It is important to measure circular strategies to establish whether, and if so, how much, the impact is reduced.
Circular Strategies to Reduce Carbon Footprint
Additionally to designing and producing products that last long and can be reused several years, if not a whole lifetime, Carl Oscar has implemented circular strategies for the purpose of reducing carbon footprint, raw material use and increasing the efficiency of the production.
Spareparts
We believe that our customers of course easily should be able to replace a worn gasket or a lost lid and thus further extend the life of their Carl Oscar-product, instead of throwing it away and buy a new one.
The carbon footprint calculations that we have made during 2023-24, also emphasizes that purchasing a component instead of an entire new product has significantly lower carbon footprint.
Energy Use in Production
Our suppliers today have solar panels installed on several premises to cover some of the electricity demand for their production, but there is room for improvement and that is a prioritized, ongoing process.
Our carbon footprint study has shown that the electricity use for production has a significant impact on the total carbon footprint of our products so replacing the electricity need with solar energy make an impact on the total carbon footprint of our products.

Finally, at Carl Oscar, we realize that the transition from a linear to a circular business model is extensive and takes a lot of time and effort, and we welcome our customers and other stakeholders input regarding how we can improve our business in order to implement circular processes.
